Toma Dragicevic — 3rd Degree Black Belt
Professor Toma Dragicevic is a 3rd degree black belt under 8x world champion and IBJJF hall of famer, Robson Moura. His training began in 1998 and eventually went on to receive his black belt in 2011. Toma has over 15 years of teaching experience, which includes both adults and children combined, and has been responsible for the growth of his student base for over a decade. Being a father of 3 beautiful children, an instructor and mentor, Toma has the qualities to develop students through a comprehensive curriculum, that takes into consideration all variables necessary, to cultivate sound jiu-jitsu practitioners. He looks forward to developing students for many years to come and assisting the other instructors within the ever-growing RMNU Canada / Current family.
Ryan Mech — Black Belt
Ryan is a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu under Toma Dragicevic through Robson Moura and the head coach of Current Jiu Jitsu’s adult No Gi program. He started training in 2007 and has been hooked ever since. Ryan is always studying to improve upon his technical ability and working to be a better practitioner and teacher for the next generation of students.
Brendon May — Black Belt
Brendon is an IBJJF certified black belt and head of the Gi program at Current BJJ. He is regarded as a fanatic of jiu jitsu throughout the community and is well-known for earning his black belt in less than 6 years. Brendon is not only a dedicated coach, but also a life-long student of jiu jitsu. Whether he is teaching a class or learning from another instructor, he is someone who will always be on the mats growing and developing.
John Ventresca — Black Belt
John is an IBJJF certified black belt has been practicing BJJ for over 16 years. He has an extensive competition background, and has won world championships in both Gi and No-Gi tournaments including NAGA Worlds 2015. He is a dedicated coach who has a passion for developing solid fundamentals in the beginner Gi program.
Austin Brown — Purple Belt
Austin Brown is a co-founder of Current Jiu Jitsu and the head instructor the Current Kids Team. Austin's goals since 2021 has been to create a dynamic kids team that can grow into future leaders at the academy. Teaching kids to lead with confidence, strong morals, and an unbreakable mindset is the primary focus. Under the guidance of our black belt roster, Austin will look to accomplish his goal of having multiple IBJJF champions within a roster of high level colour belts to guide the next generation of Current Kids.
Hannah Brown — Blue Belt
Hannah Brown is one of the co- founders of Current Jiu-Jitsu and sister of Coach Austin, both being the coaches of the Currents Kids team. Hannah started teaching kids in 2021, sparking this passion of to guide kids to compete at the highest level. The goal for the kids program is to build a strong foundation of learning, develop confidence, have discipline in the sport. Hannah is also the leader of Current Jiu-Jitsu's Woman & Girls program. The focus is bringing woman and girls into the Jiu Jitsu community, making them feel comfortable and confident in their training. Guiding them through each goal in the sport, whether that be self-defense oriented or with the mindset to compete.
